Fun for this amateur January 26, 2008 K. Stuckey (Port Huron, MI USA) 16 out of 19 found this review helpful
Let me qualify this review by saying I am not involved in the audio/video industry, I am a total novice. I bought this on a whim to edit and upload home videos from my camcorder (not digital) to the internet for fun and I really enjoy using this product. I have not had problems like the previous reviewer with the Ulead software (I also use Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 Suite). I like being able to isolate the audio from the video and tweak each seperately, adding titles is a snap, you can speed up or slowdown replay, there are tons of transitions to play with, and I'm sure I have barely scratched the surface of features available. The trimming handles are kind of hard to get used to and fairly inaccurate, I wish they were easier to work with. I did do one project for an advertising class and got an A, it was nice to have my own software to work on at home instead of fighting for limited resources at school. Great for a beginner like me.

Cannot say much about software, or the sound. Bought this on Ebay. The total price, after the shipping was added, was lower than this. I am only using the video feature for home security. Hooking up the video to a computer to record motion detection. Video is not perfect. Quality is lower than perfect when comparing the same video image seen on a TV to the one displayed on computer. For the price, it is okay. If you want perfect copies, you need to spend $500 on a Canopus ADVC300 Advanced Digital Video Converter
Decent video capture for <$[...] August 30, 2008 ph 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
My use: capturing video from a wireless security camera. I am not looking to dub DVD-quality video, because my source simply is not that level of quality. So, take that into consideration. I tried to cheat, by using this on a computer without USB 2.0. It crashed and restarted my computer almost immediately. They are not kidding about his requirement. You can get cheap (<$[...], including shipping) USB 2.0 ports from various sources; I chose [...]. Then, I followed directions, set my options (NTSC, here in the USA), and viola ... up came the video. I have not really had much use for the audio just yet. Contrary to what some have said, you can run the hardware with other software packages - AMCap, and such. For now, I am ok with the included software. Seriously, if you need professional-level equipment, then you should look for something other than a budget-level device. If you have simple needs, then this may be just enough to meet them.
Great for the $ October 20, 2008 Tyler K. 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Very good for the money. There is such low lag between the video preview window and the source of capture you can actually play a video game on your computer by using this. the image quality is by no wear near HD but it is very good for the $15you will pay. audio is not bad but im not an audio specialist so i cant say its 100% clear. Youtube "play console on laptop" if you want to see how i play my xbox on my laptop using this.
Ok October 23, 2008 Master Kush (Modesto, Ca USA) It was good for copying family video to digital, but would recommend spending more if you want great quality videos.
